Virtue-signalling grandstanding from Australia’s national netball team is “hurting the sport” rather than helping it, says Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“In this case, the leading players of a sport that is absolutely struggling for funding have decided that money from Australia’s richest woman, mining and pastoral billionaire Gina Rinehart, is not good enough for them,” he said.
“It is not their job to run their own individual virtue-seeking rulers over the funding for the whole sport, denying millions of dollars that might help other girls get a start in the sport, or excel in the sport.
“And yes, wouldn’t you know it, climate change and identity politics are at play.”
