Climate change linked to extreme drought in new study

A new study from the World Weather Attribution Group has found that climate change has increased the risk of drought in the northern hemisphere substantially.

The study’s authors write that “the extreme conditions manifested in some of the most severe soil moisture droughts on record.”

Droughts that previously might have occurred every 400 years, might now be repeated every 20 years, the report found.

Reggie Cecchini explains the findings, and why scientists are raising the alarm over a lack of action.
