Confronting Climate Change

Researchers at Argonne are working to provide a clearer understanding of climate change and develop the technologies that can help mitigate its harmful effects.

There is a direct correlation between the increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere and current temperature increases. In response, Argonne is continuing in its long tradition of creating clean energy solutions by developing technologies that generate electricity without harmful emissions, explore processes that capture and reuse pollutants from the air, and create cleaner burning engines.

Additionally, Argonne researchers are working hard to ensure that businesses, communities, and families are prepared to handle the challenges of a changing climate. We do this by creating climate models that predict extreme weather trends and implementing artificial intelligence tools that project risks to critical infrastructure to minimize potential power disruptions.
