Danielle Smith Calls out Trudeau's Terrible Climate Change Plan for Alberta

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Alberta’s premier, Danielle Smith, have been at loggerheads over the past few weeks concerning the issue of climate change in the country, with Trudeau accusing the premier of being indifferent to climate change. At the same time, Smith believes that the oil and gas industry that Trudeau is trying so hard to phase out is still relevant in the country, especially in this energy crisis in Europe.

Trudeau’s antagonism towards Smith led him to make hateful remarks about the province. In an interview with Reuters, he said, “One of the challenges is there is a political class in Alberta that has decided that anything to do with climate change is going to be bad for them or for Alberta.” He continued by saying, “We’ve seen for a while Alberta hesitating around investing in anything related to climate change. But CCUS is one of those tangible things.”

If Trudeau really knew Alberta, he would have known that the province has been leading the carbon use and storage field in the country for the past 14 years. How can a prime minister who is meant to be the national leader not know this bit about a province in the country he governs? Once again, Trudeau’s ignorance is helping him build a negative image in Alberta and setting Alberta up for a villain role in coming elections, whether provincial or federal.
