Securing the future: inclusive action on the climate emergency
Amid the tragedies of the coronavirus pandemic, a radical shift from “business-as-usual” has
had significant impact on the planet. Just a few months of lower industrial activity and travel
reduced air pollution in parts of China, for instance. But if reducing climate impacts at scale
occurs only during global pandemics, the change is hardly sustainable. Worse yet,
humanitarian crises like the Covid-19 outbreak stand to divert attention from the urgent and
interrelated effects of climate change. Stakeholders, from investors and companies to national
and local governments, must act or face a reckoning.
• How can collective leadership accelerate climate action and policy that safeguards an
inclusive future?
• What is the key ask to the G7, during and post-Covid, to ensure climate action for a
more resilient world?
