In this video, I will try to explain or describe all the possible precautions or care to be adopted by our wheat growers in February to avoid heat waves or to protect our wheat crop from global warming. Anthesis stage is also known as the flowering stage or pollination stage of the wheat crop. At this time, wheat male and female organs fuse or fertilize to make wheat grains. The ideal temperature for this anthesis stage is 24 degree centigrade. At this optimum temperature, wheat plants make a large amount of grains in wheat spikes. Sudden rise or abrupt increase in temperature may lead to desiccation or death of pollen grains.
February temperature should be mild for successful pollination in wheat plants.
Potash spray and boron spray can prevent wheat crop from high temperatures.
Watering at this stage may increase wheat crop yield. Irrigation is very important at the booting stage as it is a critical stage of wheat. We can protect our crop from losses of global warming by applying irrigation. Heat waves in drought condition may lead to low wheat grains yield.
