I’ve woken up this morning and I’m fuming. Fuming…….
How often have we heard the government suggest we need a greener future? Well let me just say there is no greener future unless it’s wrapped up in kindness and concern for a world where health and well being is as important if not more important than wealth.
Where economies support grass roots communities struggling, give them control and listen to what’s important for them. Where we make sure as a priority that people have homes, are well fed, have the same opportunity to thrive no matter their background, and where we can all work together through kindness and understanding.
Where our key services don’t need charity but get proper funding, where we no longer need food banks, where key workers aren’t clapped for but get paid well for the jobs they do. Where public money is spent on the public good, and where health is seen as the most important commodity we can all have.
Where we have a government that is accountable, can be seen within communities and which discusses not demands. And is made up of people who come from our communities and do can speak honestly for us.
Only then will we have a greener future, because social justice, the climate and ecological emergencies are all the same thing-inequality. .
