Manitoba invests $33M on emergency response and damage prevention projects | FULL

Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister announced on Wednesday his government is topping up a previously announced multi-million dollar investment for emergency response and damage prevention projects to the tune of $33 million.

Pallister said nearly half of the money – $16 million – will be used to create an alternative “flood-proof” route into the United States when Highway 75 floods in the spring.

“Creating a safe, flood-proof route as an alternative to PTH 75 means Manitoba can stay open for business in times of high water and keep goods moving to the United States,” he said.

The remaining $17 million, he said, would be used for six projects to “help build Manitoba’s climate resilience” around the province.
