In US news and current events today, the state of Oregon has taken executive action to confront the climate crisis, after GOP lawmakers literally ran away from their jobs to keep Oregon Democrats from passing a climate bill. The action being taken on climate change in Oregon is a move that’s being praised by local activists and young climate activists in the community.
On March 10, Oregon put measures in place to curb carbon emissions after months of debate, rallies, and lobbying efforts. Because state Republicans had walked out of legislative session five times since May 2019, Gov. Kate Brown (D) had to enact an executive order.
