An invited talk (in the era of pandemic self-isolation) on climate change, biodiversity loss, resilience and the transformation of society for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, for an audience of community members of the Skagit Valley Family YMCA (Washington State, USA). Prof Phoebe Barnard has worked on biodiversity and climate change vulnerability science since 1976 and 1997, respectively, as well as public policy, communications, and media. As a board member and scenarios working group member of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, she was one of the earlier scientists to sound the alarm about the biodiversity extinction crisis, and was one of five core coauthors of the paper “World scientists’ warning of a climate emergency,” with 13,420+ scientist cosignatories, published in November 2019 to massive global media interest. This is her first film – be gentle!
