STOP SILVERTOWN – WAILING BANSHEES performance outside the O2!

Twenty six people die every day in London as a result of air pollution. London has declared a climate emergency. Yet the mayor has approved a multi-billion pound new road tunnel to bring thousands of HGVS under the river between Greenwich and Silvertown (Newham).

On 21st February 2020, Extinction Rebellion Greenwich performed outside the O2 Arena in North Greenwich. Twenty six candles have been lit and the Banshees mourned the twenty six victims that die every day of air pollution in London.

Simon Pirani,Research Fellow at Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, and Victoria Rance, Spokesperson Stop the Silvertown Tunnel Coalition, add their voices as campaigners and experts on the matter of fossil fuels and air pollution to this performance.
