Voting to Declare an EU-wide Climate Emergency

Earlier this year, I wrote to the President of the Socialist & Democrats Group calling for us to ask the European Parliament to declare a climate emergency because I believe passionately that we need a co-ordinated, pan-European and global approach to tackling the climate crisis. This week, the Socialist Group has proposed a motion to the European Parliament declaring a climate and environmental emergency. I will be arguing and voting strongly for this motion, because we only have one planet and this is our chance to protect it.
