It’s home to some of the worlds most colourful, cutest and carnivorous creatures.
But every day more and more of this ecosystem is being affected by deforestation.
Recent satellite data shows that in the past 6 months there has been an increase in the amount of land being cleared to make room for things like farming.
According to experts, the equivalent of 1 soccer field of Amazon forest is being cleared every minute.
That’s got a lot of people worried and not just for the more than three million different species of plants and animals that live there.
You see the Amazon forest is often called the lungs of planet earth because the trees in it are responsible for 20% of the Oxygen in the our Atmosphere.
That’s because Trees absorb the carbon dioxide we breathe out and release oxygen back into the world.
Experts worry that less trees equals more Carbon Dioxide, something that absorbs rays from the sun and heats up the earth.
They say all that extra heat would lead to more intense & negative effects from Climate Change.
Brazil’s president says the land clearing is important for Brazil’s economy & jobs.
But environmental experts say more needs to be done to make sure the Amazon and the creatures that live there are protected.

NASA SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES ORION SAFETY TEST
NASA is one step closer to putting humans back on the moon.
It’s just successfully completed a very important safety test of its Orion Spacecraft.
It was shot into the air before scientists tested out the emergency abort system.
They wanted to make sure that everything was going to run smoothly in the event of a rocket failure.
NASA is hoping to get humans back on the moon by 2024!

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE
Speaking of space there was a pretty spectacular total solar eclipse yesterday.
But you had to be in Chile or Argentina to see it.
Tens of thousands of people gathered to gaze at the eclipse, which occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth blocking the sun.
They occur roughly every 18 months although they’re never in the same place…
Oh and like these guys you need to wear protective glasses because staring up at the sun, even during an eclipse can be dangerous!

OLD CHESS PIECE
Imagine finding an old, mysterious and pretty banged up chess piece in a drawer and then finding out it’s worth more than a million dollars.
This little guy is no ordinary chess piece he’s one of the Lewis Chessmen a 900 year old medieval chess set.
It’s considered one of the greatest artefacts of the Viking era and has been a bit of legendary tale for more than a century as a few of the pieces had gone missing.
This piece was bought for about $10 bucks in 1964 and has just sold for around 1.3 million dollars!

Imagine the surprise when a guy in South Australia stumbled across this rare albino echidna!
Albino animals are born without pigment in their skin, leaving them almost completely white!
Despite their distinct colour they’re very rare and only get spotted now and then making this video a bit special!

GLASTONBURY RAPPING KID
And this is a moment to remember!
15 year old Alex was picked out of the crowd to perform with rapper Dave at Glastonbury festival in the UK in front of tens of thousands of people!
The teenager from the smallest town in England and rapped every single lyric of the song Thiago Silva, while wearing the soccer player’s jersey.
The crowd even chanted Alex’s name at the end, so great.
