Against the Tide: Shellfish Growers Push Back on Climate Change

Climate change is disrupting the livelihoods of shellfish business owners across the East, West and Gulf Coasts. Against the Tide draws out their stories, documenting the shared challenges that bind these small businesses together and chronicling their motivations to take action on climate.
This film is a product of the Shellfish Growers Climate Coalition, a project led by The Nature Conservancy in concert with 140+ business owners from 20 states. The Coalition is harnessing the power of its members’ compelling stories about how climate change is having real impacts, right now, on their business and the coastal communities they come from. Many have been making their living from coastal waters for generations, and their companies form the backbone of their communities.The SGCC members’ stories are proving to be a compelling way to highlight the importance of climate change to the seafood industry, scientists and policymakers.
