The Covid-19 pandemic has given the entire population cause to pause and reflect. Many have noted it has shown us what really matters. Most appreciate the environment has benefited. Yet our leaders are keen to get back to ‘normal’.
Normal is gross inequality. Normal is ignoring the climate emergency. Normal is putting money and profit before people. Normal is a constant state of indebtedness. Normal is allowing a small minority to ‘own’ the majority of wealth. Normal is using ideology to justify persecution and killing. Normal is peddling hatred in the name of religion.
Let’s not get back to normal.
