Between India and China, the largest producers of carbon dioxide, exists Bhutan, the first country to achieve complete carbon neutrality. In this green haven, trees are planted in abundance and electric cars are strongly encouraged.
Tshering Tobgay, Bhutan’s prime minister pioneered this initiative. With his main mission being to remove Bhutan’s contribution to climate change. As a man of his word, a policy has been created which has the nation consist of at least 60% forest. But how exactly does a nation become carbon negative? Well, Bhutan produces around 1.5 million tonnes of carbon every year and due to the vast amount of greenery, over 6 million tonnes of carbon is absorbed and sequestered back into the earth. ????
