Did Climate Change force the Huns to Invade the Roman Empire?

The Huns are history’s boogie man, the monster which emerged from the endless steppe, and, according to the traditional telling, put an end to the Roman Empire. Recent work has established that the Huns and Xiongnu, who menaced the Chinese, are very likely one and the same. That same work has also hinted very strongly that in the fourth century the steppe suffered a multi-decade drought, which likely played a role in forcing the Huns out of Central Asia and into the Roman world, where they came into contact with Rome and her barbarian peoples
