Good morning to everyone present over here. Respected teachers & my dear friends. I am happy to speak on one of my favourite topic, global warming.

Global warming refers to the gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. This increase is primarily caused by human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and other industrial processes. These activities release large amounts of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun, leading to a warming effect on the planet.

Due to human activities in burning of large amount of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas for transportation, electricity generation, and industry, the amount of Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has dramatically increased over the last three hundred year. For example, levels of carbon dioxide have risen by 35 percent since 1750. With more greenhouse gases in the mix, the atmosphere acts like a thickening blanket and traps more heat.

The effects of global warming are far-reaching and can have serious consequences for the environment. Rising sea levels, caused by the thermal expansion of oceans and the melting of ice sheets and glaciers, are a major concern. Coastal cities and low-lying areas are at risk of flooding and erosion. More severe weather events, such as heat waves, droughts, and storms, are also becoming more common. Changes in precipitation patterns can lead to water shortages in some areas and flooding in others.

The impacts of global warming are not limited to the environment. They also have serious consequences for human societies. Agriculture is affected by changes in temperature and precipitation patterns, which can lead to crop failures and food shortages. Water resources are also affected, as melting glaciers and changes in precipitation patterns can lead to droughts or flooding. Human health is also at risk, as warmer temperatures can lead to an increase in heat-related illnesses and the spread of disease.

To mitigate the effects of global warming, it is necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to cleaner forms of energy. This can be achieved through various action, such as increasing the use of renewable energy and improving energy efficiency. It is also important to protect and restore natural ecosystems, such as forests and wetlands, which can act as carbon sinks and help to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
