MY SOLAR POWERED AIR CONDITIONER INVENTION. AAHHH its Burning my arm.- said my son 20 years ago when I built this simple solar concentration.
But since then a lot has changed watch the SOLAR POWER AND CLIMATE CHANGE (The Solar Powered Air Conditioner) and you will see why. This picture shows a heavy but effective well known way to concentrate the suns energy,- known as the parabolic trough .when facing the sun directly It is designed to reflect nearly all of the suns rays like ultra violet and infra red to the center along its length where the heat energy is concentrated. like the parabolic dish with can use with a steam driven engine in the middle, it has to track the sun during the day to concentrate as much of the suns energy onto the engine for it to work properly. it too is heavy and has moving parts which needs maintenance, and so solar panels are more practical in some ways to convert the sun light into electricity, although they are only around 15 percent efficient, at least some energy is converted during days of cloud cover cloud cover. and u concentrate the suns energy on solar panels is also fraught with problems. Running air conditioners or electric heaters directly from solar panels would require a huge surface area of panels just to service a small room unless the energy collected over time was stored in a large buffer such as bank of batteries.
