Next month, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change #COP27 will take place in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).

Mr. Kokkalis explains what’s at stake pretty clearly:
Last year in Glasgow for the first time in history, the global north admitted liability for the damage caused in the global south by the climate change. Climate change due to emissions that we created and which is now bringing destruction today in the whole continent of Africa. People are dying from drought and now in the COP27 in Africa (UN Climate Change Conference), it is time to establish a loss and damage facility to pay up for the cost of exploitation, and to reckon with the “white man’s burden” and the colossal damage of genocide, colonisation and exploitation. So, we have to make sure that we push for a debt cancelation for the global south to the global north and release this money to be used for climate action – for mitigation, adaptation and loss and damage.
